BioShock – Inifinite: Preview

By admin · Comments (1)

BioShock logoIn secrecy since 2007 Irrational Games has finally lifted the curtain off of BioShock Infinite. Ken Levine and company may have taken a little time off but now they are ready to fill us in on the next installment of the critically acclaimed video game “BioShock”. Although it was teased BioShock Infinite would be going back to the underwater city of rapture, Irrational Games flipped the script on us and is instead sending us to the floating city of Columbia. “Floating City” you say…yup, the floating city. There are many concepts and gameplay elements returning from the original BioShock but there are a few new themes making its way into the new game. Ken Levine was big on the concept of neutrality. The development team wants to give this new BioShock an old west type of feel. Everyone in the city of Columbia isn’t instantly gunning for you, it’s possible to walk into a room and the people in it just stare at you. You as the player really won’t know what they’re thinking or what will set them off. Continue Reading

Street Fighter – Legacy

By admin · Comments (1)

It’s been a couple months since this came out but it’s too hot not give a little more attention. I wonder why Hollywood can’t get it right…I guess it really does take someone with a passion for the subject matter to make something hot. This 3 minute Street Fighter movie is better than both the travesties Hollywood has churned out. If you want to know what Joey Ansah & Owen Trevor have planned for The Street Fighter franchise Don’t worry read on for an IGN interview. Continue Reading

I’m what some of my younger peers call, “an old head”, older but not out of touch. I recently read the first three volumes of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novels. My curiosity piqued because of a movie trailer I saw last year that looked interesting to me because of its style and vibe. Now, having read the graphic novels I’m familiar with the universe Mr. O’Malley has created, sure his target demographic is waaaay below my age, not that the content is juvenile, just not geared for anyone over 25, it still had its appeal to me because of the DEFINATE manga influence and the wild non-superhero storyline. Now it’s a videogame as well as movie and let me say this, the game is one of THE BEST downloadable titles yet and a tight “fight to the right” side scrolling brawler to boot. This was the best $10.00 value I’ve had since that time in Mexico with the two non-skanky hookers I got for the night. Continue Reading

Tekken: Review

By admin · Comments (1)

“In a world where fighting videogame movies usually suck, comes Tekken…” Wouldn’t that cool be if that movie voice guy did the trailer intro like that just to put you in that clichéd movie frame of mind. It would help with the enjoyment and what’s wrong with a few comfortable cliché’s in an action movie right! Well in the universe of game-to-movie productions there’s only been a literal handful that have got it mostly right. Trying to convert the notoriously thin plot in fighting games the live action versions have been laughable…with the exception of the first “Mortal Kombat” movie. Me and Pimp Hands beloved Street Fighter has been destroyed on the live action scene twice! Continue Reading

I hate mixtapes.  I don’t have time to listen to 32 2:00 snippets of random tracks that sound like they were recorded in a garbage can with somebody yelling ad libs throughout.  That said, I want to be clear.  I don’t care if it is free and is a follow-up 2008′s Mixtape About Nothing, Wale’s More About Nothing is an album.  Wale again revisits the Seinfeld theme that graced the first and the result is a concept album that belongs in the elite company of Masta Ace’s A Long Hot Summer and Prince Paul’s Politics of the Business. As a relatively new form of entertainment video games are continuously trying to discover what makes them different from traditional media. Of course the easy answer is interactivity, but interactivity is only part of what makes games great. The ability to make choices that effect the world and shape its story helps bring much more gravity to all that “interactive” button mashing we all love so much. Continue Reading
