Vesta – Day Light’s Coming: Album Review

Let me start this review by saying I’m not a “pop-rock” fan and I’m not talking about the legendary Candy, I am a music purist. I Like my music raw, not too commercial / top 40 sounding. Not saying it can’t be melodic, or thought provoking but it has to be REAL, like the music was made for the sake of making good music and not bottom lines.
That said…the debut album form the group VESTA is amazing. Take My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco and a sprinkle of The Killers for good measure and you have VESTA, a kick ass hard rock group that should be BIG real soon. Not since Queens of the Stone Age have I heard such tight rhythms and hard rockin’ guitars. VESTA’s “Daylights Coming” is one of the best debut albums I’ve heard in a while, some of the standout tracks (all are good) are “Pretty girls in magazines”, Show me your eyes” and “Silhouette girl” any of these would be perfect top down music while cruising the interstate. The production is lush yet sparse, crunchy yet melodic. All in all, not corny or overdone, it’s refreshing to hear some good rock music that still kicks ass. While I was listening to the CD thoughts of hearing their music on “Smallville” came to mind. That’s not a diss, up until season 7 the music of the featured bands was HOT and Vesta could fit in comfortably. Again these guys are musically TIGHT and should be given a listen, if not a purchase…NOW. All other rock bands lookout VESTA is here…I hope to stay. Don’t miss it, Give ‘em a listen you won’t be disappointed.
